There is only one view available in this display. That is all we need to deliver the next batch of bad news. Not only can we not predict the future state of a chaotic system, for any real system where the parameters are known only to limited precision, we will not get the same chaotic behavior on successive runs from the same system.
In this display we have introduced a 0.1% variation in the initial conditions and simultaneously plotted the position of the same system with the two sets of starting conditions. The situation here is that even tiny variations in initial conditions cause the systems behavior to diverge very quickly to the point that there is no correlation between the two runs. This phenomena is known as "sensitive dependence on initial conditions" and is one of the characteristics of systems in chaos.
