Sat. Jan. 1st
Mostly fair. Judy brot Doris out at noon and took me to hospital. I stayed with Ella ‘til she passed away about 2.35 P.M. Joe and Eva stayed with Doris thru the P.M. I called to see Aunt Hat while Roy and Judy made funeral arrangements at Wilson’s. Bill and Wm. Went to hospital but got there too late.
Sun. Jan 2nd
Rainy day. Dot went to Gray in A.M. Roy and Judy met Catherine, Stevie and Carol in Portland in A.M. Lois Morrison, Sylvia and boy friend called in P.M. also Mr. and Mrs. Wass.
Mon. Jan. 3rd
Nice day. Dot took Joyce and Carol to Eva Mc’s for the day and Stevie and Donnie to Alta Foster’s. Cat-, Dot and I took Galen to Maxine Hodgkins’ in P.M. while we went to Portland to order flowers and bring Judy out home. Mr. Mrs. Hutchins and children called in eve.
Tues. Jan. 4th
Sprinkling of snow in A.M. then fair and warm. Doris and I went to Wilson’s (undertaker’s) in A.M. Funeral services for Ella at Gray Baptist church at 2 P.M. (Dick Morrison from Waterville and Mr. Magoon (Gray) Mrs. Wass played organ. Bearers were Everett, Willaim, Arnold and Earland. Everett, Freda, Winnie and Harry came in A.M. They went out to dinner then came back to take me to church. They came back after services also Bill, Sue, William, Em Labbee, Vera, Joe’s family, Roy and Judy and Madelyn Penley. She stayed to supper.

Good day. Doris and Catherine went to Gray in A.M. Mr. Magoon called in P.M. Roy and Judy came to supper.
Thurs. Jan. 6th
Misty, little snow. Doris went to Lewiston in A.M. Earland and Donnie sick in night. Arnold sick all day.
Fri. Jan. 7th
Cloudy, cold, windy. Catherine, Dot and Roy went to Portland in A.M. at “Probate” office. Doris went to Gray in P.M.
Sat. Jan. 8th
Clear. Everett, Freda, Granville and Jimmie called in A.M. to take me home. We went to Portland. Boys bot new engine for big boat. They took me to South Portland to see Lew and Mattie. Had dinner then went shopping. Everett, Freda, Eddie Chesser and I went to supper at Library Hall at Bailey’s Is. for the local telephone operators who finished work in Dec. (changed to dial system) Nellie Sylvester, chief operator. Dr. Swisher went, too. Had entertainment by Harpswell and dance later. Ev-, Marshall Metcalf and another fellow played (saxophone) (Earle Small).

Nice day. Freda and Mayota went to Sunday school. Everett, Eddie, James and I went to church service. Ev-, Freda and Jim took Eddie back to “Base” after supper.

Nice day. I went to P.O. in A.M. Freda went to church board meeting in eve.
Tues. Jan. 11
Partly cloudy. Ralph Miller (pastor) called in A.M. and Eve. Ev- and Freda went out in eve.
Wed. Jan. 12
Clear, 8° above. Ev- took me to Bill’s and Sue’s in morn. when he went to work. We went over to Myrt’s in eve. [Heard Lester Rideout was in hospital (C.M.G.) accident to his knee while sawing wood the latter part of this week] (Friday)
Thurs. Jan. 13
Nice day, clear. Bobby called. Myrt and Em had dinner with us. Bill, Sue and I went to Falls in P.M. then to Vera’s (she was gone) then to June’s.
Fri. Jan. 14
Nice day, cold and windy. We went to Em’s and Edith’s in A.M. and to Stewart's, Lola’s, Vivian’s and Vera’s in P.M. Larry spent wk-end with Bill and Sue.
Sat. Jan. 15
Nice day. We went up to Geo. Merrill’s in A.M. Ev- took me home in P.M. Margaret down for wk-end also Ronny Small. Mrs. Miller’s company had room here for tonight.
Sun. Jan. 16
Nice day, milder. We all went to church except Mayota (sick) Ronny played trombone with Dr. Swisher on piano at church. Harry, Jr. came after Margaret in P.M. Roland Morin Broke his leg sliding. Winnie staying with children while Mary goes to hospital. Ev-, Freda, Dr. Swisher and I took Ronny home in eve.

Mostly cloudy. Ev- and Freda went away in early P.M. and came home in eve. Eddie Chesser came in P.M.
Tues. Jan. 18
Fair. The “Teen-age” committee met here in P.M. Mr. Haddon stayed to supper.

Nice day. Eddie left in morn. for “Base”. Jim stayed over night at Hall’s (Mae Bell’s place) with the children.

Fair. Gramp Small and Granville came down in P.M.
Fri. Jan 21
Fair, cold. Mrs. Fletcher and Judy over for tea. Winnie and Harry, Jr. brot Margaret down in early eve. Margaret went to “Teen-age” dance with Freda, James, Sandra. I went home with Winnie and Harry, Jr. for the night.
Sat. Jan. 22
Snowed about 1-3 in. during night and A.M. Everett and family went to Gramp Small’s to see Granville’s radio set. They picked me up on their way home in P.M. Winnie and I went to Mary Morin’s in P.M. to stay with children while Mary went to Brunswick hospital to see Roland. Freda, Everett, Margaret and Jim went skating in eve.

Snowed 3-4 in. Freda, Margaret and Mayota went to Sun. school. Dr. Swisher played for later service. Freda, Sandra, James, Margaret and I went to church. Everett took Margaret home when he went to work in eve. Funeral services at Brunswick for Robert P. Tristram Coffin.

Snow showers during day. Three telephone men came to dinner. Everett went rabbit hunting with Bessie.

Freda went to Bailey’s Is- and to Cundy’s Harbor with Everett in A.M.

Very little snow and some rain during night and early morn. clearing in A.M. windy and colder. Everett, Freda, Ben Harris and I went to Portland in A.M. to get material to make fish net, etc.
Fri. Jan. 28
Zero weather, coldest so far. No school on account of cold. Everett, Freda and I went to Gramp Small’s for dinner, home by Stewart’s. Mayota spent day with Sharon Johnson. James and Sandra and Everett and Freda went to “Teen-age” exhibition of square dances up to Bruns- town hall for polio benefit, entertainment. Several car loads from Orr’s and Bailey’s went up. Margaret came home with them for wk-end.

Fair, cold clear day. Everett took Freda, James and Sandra to first meeting of “rifle club” at “Firemen’s Hall”. Freda and Margaret went to Mr. Miller’s in eve. Rose Folsom died in Burlington Vt.

Cold and clear. Margaret, Sandra, Jim, Freda, Everett and Dr. Swisher went to church. Everett took Margaret to work when he went to work in P.M.

41° below at Presque Isle - 2° below in Brunswick – snowed lightly all day, clearing in early eve. Everett attended the U.S.G. annual dinner at Hotel Eagle.

Clear - 13° below at “Navy Base” in Brunswick.
Thurs. Feb. 3rd
Clear – below zero. Mrs. Fletcher over. James “Baby-sat” at Hall’s with Skillings children.
Fri. Feb. 4th
Clear - 13° above in Portland – much warmer. Freda and I went to N. Harpswell with Mrs. Fletcher and Judy in P.M. to take Serrill Flash home then we went to Brunswick shopping. Everett took Brenda Mitchell and Margaret Stewart home for wk-end. Eddie Chesser down for wk-end (Been to W. Virginia for 10 days) Jim and Margaret went to “Teen-age” dance at Bailey’s. New York City much colder than Maine.
Sat. Feb. 5th
Mostly fair, warmer. Ev-, Freda, Jim and Eddie went to Gramp Small’s at 8 A.M. for the day. Sandra took care of Judy Fletcher part of day here and over to her house in eve. Jim went to skating party in eve.
Sun. Feb. 6th
Very little damp snow fell in A.M. Rain in eve. I went with Everett in A.M. to take Brenda and Margaret home then all of us except Jimmie went to church. Eddie played accordion during service in A.M. and several selections at evening service. Dr. Swisher played for singing.
Mon. Feb. 7th
Fair and windy. Everett went up to our old place rabbit hunting with “Bessie”. Dr. Swisher had dinner at Freeport with friends. Clara Stevens and Russell spent the day with us. (He has four more months in service) Granville, Gram Small and baby down in eve.
Tues. Feb. 8th
Beautiful day. Everett and Freda went to Eben and Jennie Carlson’s for dinner to celebrate Lola’s birthday (2) Freda fell on ice at Falls and was hurt badly. She went to Dr. Bailey’s. Mary Bangs and children called in P.M.
Wed. Feb. 9th
Nice day. Everett took Freda to Dr. Bailey’s. He sent her to hospital in Portland for X-rays – no broken bones.
Thurs. Feb. 10
Beautiful mild day. Everett went rabbit hunting up in our old neighborhood in Bowdoin. President Eisenhower accepts Margaret Chase Smith’s invitation to visit Maine next summer.
Fri. Feb. 11
Cloudy, heavy wind and rain in late P.M. and eve. Everett went to Brunswick to take Freda to Dr. Bailey’s and me to Dr. McFarland’s in P.M. Sandra went to “Box social” and teen-age dance at Bailey Is. Mayota and Jimmie have colds. Margaret Stew- sick at home.

Fair, windy and colder. Children all have heavy colds (including me) Ethel Linscott called in eve. to see Freda.

Beautiful day. Sandra went to Sun. school. Mr. Miller called in P.M. also Ben Harris.
Mon. Feb. 14.
Clear and cold. Eddie came home with Everett in morn. and went back in P.M. Girls both came home sick. Jim had no school in P.M. so many out sick.
Tues. Feb. 15
Mild, snowed most of day (lightly). Everett, Freda (to Dr. Bailey’s for treatment) and I went to Brunswick in A.M. Girls both home sick. Hearing in Augusta on dividing Harpswell into two towns.
Wed. Feb. 16
Snowed part of day, mild and black. Everett went rabbit hunting up by our old place in Bowdoin then to “meeting” at the mill (some one fired at mill due to an accident that he was not wholly to blame for) Girls at home. Jimmie stayed at Hall’s all night with children.

Snowed most of day then rained. Mrs. Fletcher and Judy over in P.M.
Fri. Feb. 18
Light snow part of day. Everett took Freda to Dr. Bailey’s for treatment. Sandra, Mayota and Dr. Swisher went along to shop. 9-10 in. of snow fell since Tues. 18-19 in. in some sections of Maine. Pearl West passed away at hospital.
Sat. Feb. 19
First sunny day since Mon. Everett and I took Sandra and Mayota to Gramp Small’s for few days in A.M. Dr. Swisher had dinner with Abbott and Ilene Fletcher.
Sun. Feb. 20
Mostly warm and sunny. Jimmie and I went to church. Ralph Miller came up in P.M. to show pictures of the Methodist camp at Winthrop. Jimmie went to service at Bailey’s with Mr. Miller.
Mon. Feb. 21
Beautiful day. James and Freda did washing. Everett took Freda to Dr. Bailey’s in eve. and took me to Brunswick hospital for operation. Della and Forrest Ordway took Earle home to stay from Pownal State school where he had been several years.
Tues. Feb. 22
Foggy. Had the usual preparation for operation. Everett called in P.M. Winnie, Harry and Margaret called in eve. also Elizabeth Cornish.
Wed. Feb. 23
Operated on in A.M. by Dr. Dionne. Everett called in P.M. a couple of times.
Thurs. Feb. 24
Everett called in P.M. also Bill, Winnie, Harry and Margaret called. Clara Stevens came to “Belvedere”.

Freda had birthday party for Mayota. Everett called in P.M.

Warm, fair. Everett called in P.M. I sat up ten minutes.

Rained part of day. Eddie Chesser called in P.M. also Bill, Sue, Emily, Judy, Doris, Joyce, Galen. Everett and family called in eve. on way home from taking Clara back to Portland. Winnie, Harry, Jr. and Margaret called.

Beautiful mild day. Everett took me home from the hospital in A.M. “Annex” rented to Johnny Reid, Jr.

Much colder, snowed most of day. Everett took Jim to Gramp Small’s in eve. for week-end. Eddie Chesser came in late P.M. Freda and Sandra went to “Teen-age” dance with Mr. Haddon. Margaret Stewart called on way to dance.

Snowed some. Johnny Reid’s bride-to-be (Glenda Alexander) came to settle her things in “Annex” in eve.

Little snow, fog and rain most of day. Girls went to Sun. school Dr. Swisher played at church for Ethel Linscott. Everett, Sandra, Dr. Swisher went to Litchfield in P.M. to celebrate Gram Small’s birthday. They took Eddie Chesser to “Base” and brot Jimmie home from Litchfield.

Fair and windy. Everett, Freda and Dr. Swisher went to “town meeting” to vote and had turkey dinner. Winnie Stewart hurt her back.

Fair. Everett took me to Dr. McFarland’s in P.M. while Freda went shopping.

Light snow, warmer and rain at night. Everett began painting the small dining room.

Beautiful warm day. John Reid and Glenda Alexander married and moved into our “annex”.

Warm, few light showers. Ev- and Freda went to Bruns- in A.M. James and Sandra went to “Teen-age” dance. Mary Bangs called in P.M. Harry Stewart, Jr. called in eve. He brot Margaret down to dance.

James and Lucien Johnson went to Bruns- on their bicycles. Everett sanded the small dining room floor.

Snowed during night then rained, snow gone in P.M. Freda and Jim went to church. William brot Bill, Sue and Em down in P.M. Cal and Dot brot Winnie down in eve. while they went to Bailey Island.

Mostly cloudy. Aunt Maebel passed away about noon after being sick with cancer in nursing home for nearly four years, age 79. Everett took me to Dr. McFarland’s in P.M. while he and Freda went shopping.

Cold, clear and heavy wind. Winnie Reid called in eve. also Mary Bangs. Everett and Freda went out in early eve.

Snowed a few flakes in P.M. the cleared away. Everett brot Margaret Stewart down to go to the “Teen-age” dance. Freda and James went. Freda took care of Judy Fletcher all day while her mother went to Boston. Mr. Fletcher and Judy had supper here.

Began snowing in late A.M. – rain later. The “Teen-age” comm. Met here in P.M. Ev- took me to hospital to see Dr. Dionne (Dr. McFarland in Florida)

Nice day. Bill Skillings’ house on Bailey’s Is. burned about noon. We all rode down in eve. to see ruins. Margaret Stewart came home with Everett in morn. to help Freda. Eddie Chesser came to supper time with his recording machine.

Nice spring day. Everett and Freda took me to Greene to visit Alice K. Natalie Smith at Alice’s for few days. (She’s boarding at Eva Sandford’s) Harry Staples went to C.M.G. in eve. (Ruth, his daughter, and her husband (Dr. Chase) both in hospital for operations.

Beautiful warm day. Everett came after me in morn. Hazel Johnson called in P.M. Margaret went to “Teen age” dance with Mr. Haddon. Freda, James and Sandra went to Mr. Miller’s in eve. to get instruction in Baptism.

Partly cloudy. Granville came down to work on boat and brot Marie Flarrity to spend the day with the girls. We family all went to First Baptist church in Bath in eve. to Baptism of Everett, James, Sandra and Mayota then we went to “Ideal” lunch in Brunswick.

Mostly cloudy. We all went to church (and Margaret) Mr. Porter (Dist. Supt. At church in A.M. Mayota went to Sun. school. Everett and family taken into Orr’s Is. Methodist church with five others. Winnie Reid called in P.M. Ev- and Freda went out in late P.M. (to supper). Everett, Freda, Margaret and I went to Bailey Is. church in eve. The Allison’s left in A.M.
Mon. April 4th
Mostly fair, windy. The girls came in after school to help Mr. Miller make “posters” and plan for breakfast at church after “sunrise service on Easter. Hank Bangs sick with pneumonia.
Tues. Apr. 5th
Beautiful day. I walked to post office (first time since I went to hospital) Everett worked on boat. I went to Pinkham’s point in eve. to look at John Reid’s boat with Ev- + Freda. James went with his class to Brunswick High school for the day.
Wed. Apr. 6th
April showers (very light) Miss Johnson (Hazel) had dinner with us. John and Glenda Reid had supper with us.
Thurs. Apr. 7th
Fair. Margaret went up with Everett in morn. to Bowdoin Ctr. Everett, Freda and I went to Bruns- in eve. (Taking me to see Dr. McFarland but not his night in office) James, Sandra and Mayota went to play given by Cundy’s Harbor school.
Fri. Apr. 8th
Clear, windy and cold. We all went to church in eve. to “Good Fri.” program by Sunday school (no school) Freda getting ready for cancer drive.
Sat. Apr. 9th
Nice day, milder. Marion and Stella Smith (school teachers that bot our little house) came in P.M. for few days. Everett played at Eureka Grange hall in Durham.
Sun. Apr. 10
Beautiful warm day Freda, children and I went to ”Sunrise” service at church at 6 A.M. they we had ham and egg breakfast down stairs. All but Freda and Mayota went to 11 A.M. service. Freda, James and I went to eve. service with the Smith sisters. Sandra baby sat with Judy Fletcher in eve. First heavy traffic.

Clear, warm day. I went to P.O. in A.M. Eddie Chesser came to supper (for a day or two) Everett worked on boat all day at Skillings’. He and Freda went to board meeting of the church at Mr. Miller’s in eve. Voted to put a telephone in at parsonage.
Tues. Apr. 12
Fair. I went to Mitchell’s with Everett in early morn. – from there to Portland to get material to finish his boat ( ) Freda went to boat yard with Estelle and Marian Smith in P.M. and to Mrs. Harris in eve.
Wed. Apr. 13
Partly cloudy. The Smith sisters took Eddie back to Naval Base in P.M. All the family went to “prize speaking” at church, Jim and Sandra spoke. Marian Smith went with us. Prizes went to Norma Huff, Donna Dudley and Lillian Whitney.
Thurs. Apr. 14
Mostly foggy. Telephone put in for Ralph Miller Jimmie went to spelling bee at our school. Girl from Cundy’s Harbor won. Ann Kitchen.
Fri. Apr. 15
Foggy most of day. I called to see "Feen" Graves. Everett brot Patty Mitchell home with him for few days. They all went to “Teen-age” dance in eve. except Otie and me. (Ev- working) Estelle and Marian Smith started back for Albany, N.Y. in A.M.
Sat. Apr. 16
Mostly fair. The children went to ”Cumberland” theatre in P.M. while Everett and Freda went shopping and I made my last trip to Dr. McFarland. Freda and all children except Mayota went o party at the church in eve. (M.Y.F.)

Cloudy. Mayota and Patty M. went to Sun. school Freda, James and I went to church in A.M. and Freda and I went to Bailey’s in eve. with Mary Bangs. Gramp Small and Gram, Granville and Mrs. Rogers (“Marm”) came down in P.M. also Leo and family. Patty Mitchell went home in eve. when Everett went to work. James went to Gramp Small’s for visit.

Rainy day. Everett and Freda went out in P.M. They took me to Stewart’s for visit when they went to Gramp Small’s to get Jimmie. Mr. and Mrs. Ford from Lisbon came to Stewart’s in eve. to show pictures and give lesson on 7th day Adventism.

Nice day. Winnie and I walked up to our old place. Mrs. Phinney came up in eve.

Fair. Winnie, Candace and I walked down to Brick House in eve. I called in to see Grace Coombs while Harry took Margaret to school.

Misty. Susie Small and girls called in P.M. Mr. Phinney came up to Stewart’s for wk=end while his wife, Susie Small and Mary Murphy went to Caribou. I went home to Orr’s in eve. when Harry took Margaret to “Teen-age” dance at Bailey’s.

Light showers. Freda and I went to supper at church Everett took James up to Chester’s for wk-end when he went to work in P.M.

Mostly cloudy. Everett, Freda, Sandra and I went to church in A.M. Freda and I went in eve. Phil Rowe and family down in P.M. also Hilda and part of her family. Daylight saving time went into effect.

Cold, rainy day. Don Walls called in A.M. (Been in Washington, D.C.) Everett and Freda went to Litchfield and in late P.M. to spend eve and to Leo’s. Freda had “tea” with Mrs. Fletcher.

Wet day, cold. Doris, Donnie, Joyce, Galen and Judy came in P.M. Gram Small, Granville and Mrs. Rogers came to supper. Eddie Chesser came to a late supper (for a few days).

Not so showery but wet, cold. Everett and Freda went out in eve. Harry Stewart operated on for gland trouble and gall stones.

Sun shone very little in late P.M. clear in eve. Eddie took us all to West Bath Grange Hall in eve. to Ken McKenzie show.

Beautiful day. Eddie went back to “Base” when Everett went to work in morn. Everett and Freda took me to Stewart’s in eve. to stay while Harry, Sr. is in C.M.G. Harold Small, Susie and girls called in eve. also Mr. and Mrs. Phinney and Mary Morin. Nancy Morin stayed over night. Harry, Jr. left in eve. to go on class trip to N.Y.

Nice day. Mary Morin down in A.M. to get Nancy. Calvin took Winnie, Margaret and me to C.M.G. in P.M. Maurice Owen, Laura and family called in eve. also Geneva Adams.
Mon. May 2nd
Beautiful day. Winnie and I walked over to Junes to lunch and up to Vera’s in P.M. (She was gone.) We went of C.M.G. in eve. with Mrs. Phinney and Shirley Young.
Tues. May 3rd

Nice day, cold. Everett took Freda to Dr. Bagdekin at Bath. In eve. Sandra and I went.

Nice day. I went to Falls with Everett in early morn. to spend the day. Went to Lillian Guenther’s, had dinner with Evie Wentworth and Ruth, then called at Della Ordway’s. Everett and Freda went out in eve. Mrs. Swisher arrived from Philadelphia. Heard Philip Adams and Evelyn Small were married the first of the week.

Fair, cool and windy. Everett, Freda and I went to Gram Small’s to get some flowers then to out lot in Litchfield and from there to South Auburn cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Weinburger of Cambridge, Mass. and two children came for week-end

Hazy part of day. Thunder showers thru evening and most of night, very heavy at Lewiston and Lisbon, etc. Joe and Eva and Jane McDonald spent the day with us. Everett and I took them on boat ride around the Island.

Foggy. The Weinburgers left shortly before noon. Freda and Mayota went down to Stella Smith’s in eve.

Foggy and wet, thunder showers and heavy rain in eve. Everett, Freda, James and I went to Lisbon Falls to buy Jim’s graduation outfit, then shopped in Brunswick and Bath (Bot new power lawn mower) in A.M. Had dinner at “Ideal” in Brunswick.

Wet, showery in eve. I rode to Bailey’s Is- with Ev- in P.M. Granville and Mr. Merrill from Gardiner came down to supper and slept on boat. Everett, Freda, James, Granville and Mr. Merrill, Chester and family, Em and Hilda went out fishing in eve.

Windy, cold, wet in morn. Granville and Mr. Merrill went home in early morn. (not good for deep sea fishing) Everett, Freda and I went to Banquet at Library Hall, Bailey Is. given for graduating class. Sandra and Mayota dined at “Square Deal”.

Showery in late P.M. and eve. Everett brot Clara Stevens home after work for few days. He took Miss Lainge to Brunswick in morn. so she could spend the day in Portland. We all went to Grammar school graduation at West Harpswell Grange hall in eve. We brot Eddie Chesser and Miss Lainge home with us. James received the award from A.- Legion. New lights turned on in Brunswick at 9 P.M. with big ceremonies.

Granville, Leo and others went fishing with Everett and Jimmie in early morn. Freda, Everett, Clara, Eddie and children went to Rifle Range practice in P.M.

Showery. All except Miss Lainge went to church. Everett and Freda took Clara Stevens back to Portland in P.M. and took me to Doris’ for a visit. Cat- Johnny and family at Doris’ Johnny and Earland left at 10 P.M. for N.Y. with truck to get their furniture. Karl Libby, Sr. passed away about 5.30 A.M.

Thunder shower in A.M. – showery in P.M. – heavy rain. Doris and three boys went to D.V.B school. Doris, Catherine, the children and I went to see Cath-‘s new house at Gray in P.M. and home by Dry Mills. Cat-, Dot and I went to funeral parlor in eve. Boys came at 12.30 (midnight) with Cath-‘s furniture. Miss Lang left Freda’s.

Sandra and Mayota moved to front bedroom down stairs for winter quarters and Jim moved back to his room – front left upstairs. Freda drove car to Cook’s in A.M. Struck Merrill’s car in our door yard and dented it.

Mostly cloudy. Mrs. Bradley out at lunch time. Everett, Freda and I went to Lisbon Falls in A.M. then back to Brunswick for shopping. I went to Dr. McFarland’s for bad throat medicine. Freda and children went up to Dr. Swisher’s with cookies and ice cream to celebrate his birthday in P.M.

Nice day. Everett, Johnny Reid and Glenda’s brother moved the piano from the annex to our living room. Winnie, Margaret, Mary Young and Shirley came down in eve. to go to dance. Dances postponed 3 weeks on acct of polio.

Nice day. Freda worked at Cook’s. Mayota stayed down there most of day. I rode to Navy Base (cleaners) with Everett in A.M.

Nice warm day. Mrs. Bradley left for home (Nyack) in A.M. Freda worked at Cook’s (her last day) Jimmie went to Portland in P.M. with Mr. Miller to M.Y.F. meeting in P.M. and eve. Ralph, sister Alice, her little girl and another one came down in P.M.

Heavy fog most of day. Everett attended court in Bruns- Case against Russell and Bobby Wilson and D. Webber for stealing Jim’s outboard motor. We lost. Ev-, Freda and I went to Bruns- in P.M. to get Alfred Darrow. (coming to board at the Belvedere) Eddie came down in eve.

Russell Stevens brot Clara for visit in P.M. Cliffie Small came to stay a week while Leo and Frances have a vacation. All except Cliffie and Everett went to church to see a film on “Martin Luther”.

Called at Maggie Verrill’s to see Mattie Quint but she was staying in Portland to go to the Maine General hospital to see Lew. Judy and Roy in in eve. Johnny started work at Pownal State school. Eddie Chesser discharged from U.S. service and went home to W, Virginia.
